FULL: Wendall Thomas Seminar 2: 'Advanced Story Structure'

In this one day seminar, the second of two given by celebrated screenwriting tutor Wendall Thomas, you will be led scene-by-scene through a screening of a chosen film, seeing it broken down in terms of scene dynamics, character and secondary character arcs, dialogue, imagery, tone, etc. 


'Advanced Story Structure – Piece by Piece' will allow delegates to explore all the smaller elements of structure and cohesion beyond the major plot points, illuminated by Wendall's expert analysis. Recent films exemplifying the kind of advanced story structure under consideration include Slumdog Millionaire, Michael Clayton, Collateral, Erin Brokovich, Little Miss Sunshine, The Bourne Identity, Notting Hill, The Forty Year Old Virgin and Batman Begins.

When: Wednesday 23 September 2009; registration from 9.30am for a prompt start at 10.00am (latecomers may be refused entry); ends 5.00pm.

Wendall Thomas’ Biography

Wendall Thomas has worked in the film industry in Los Angeles for more than twenty years and is currently in her eleventh year as Adjunct Professor of Screenwriting in the Graduate School of Film and Television at UCLA. She has held various roles ranging from casting director to writer and has developed projects for companies including Disney, Paramount and Universal. In addition to writing and consulting she has lectured throughout Europe for companies such as Arista and Lighthouse Media Centre, consults for ACE in Paris.
