North East filmmakers to attend Berlinale Talent Campus

Wednesday 13th January, 2010

Three North East filmmakers have announced their success after receiving places at this year’s Berlinale Talent Campus.

The Berlinale Talent Campus is held during the Berlin Film Festival and is a creative academy and networking platform for up-and-coming filmmakers from all over the world.  During the six day event, attendees engage in seminars, workshops, screenings and networking which aim to encourage collaborative filmmaking.

Producer Jack Tarling from Shudder Films, writer and director Mark Chapman and writer, director and animator Sam Goldwater will all attend the campus which runs from 13- 18 February.

Jack Tarling said, 'I'm very proud to have been offered a place at the Berlinale Talent Campus, which received more than 4,700 applications for 350 places. I think networking has always been one of my strong points, so I'm now looking forward to expanding my networks at an international level. I will also be looking to meet potential co-producers, financiers and distributors for my feature 'Intercom' which has recently been awarded development money by Northern Film & Media,'

A main draw of the campus is the array of internationally acclaimed film professionals that are on hand to share their knowledge through interviews, panel sessions, workshops and mentorship. Former experts include Frances McDormand, Gael García Bernal, Dennis Hopper, Mike Leigh, Stephen Daldry, Ridley Scott, Gustavo Santaolalla and Tilda Swinton.
