Overview

We are interested in projects which seek to promote and enhance media literacy across the broad population and minority groups in the North East, helping individuals and organisations to engage with audiences and communities throughout the region.  Clear aims and objectives are essential, robust business plans desirable. Please note that ALL applications require 50% match funding, a minimum of 25% to be in cash, as opposed to in kind.

What are the Participatory Team looking for in a successful application?

Social impact

Projects need to demonstrate a social or cultural impact on the participants and the wider community. To have an impact your project does not have to focus on a serious or negative “issue”.  A project might have an impact because it:

Media Literacy:  improving opportunity to watch, understand and create moving image (for more information, please see our Media Literacy Factsheet).

Sustainable impact:  developing the capabilities of individuals and organisations to use moving image in ways that make a long-term difference to the lives of people in the North East and to utilise local resources more effectively.

People-centric: ensuring that activity is relevant and meaningful to people's lives and that they are empowered through participation..

Inclusion and consultation: listening and responding to constructive views and ensuring that diverse communities are represented.

Partnership Working: drawing on the experience of organisations and agencies across the social sectors to deliver projects. Partners should contribute ‘in kind’ and cash match funding to the project. Involvement of media platform providers, including broadcasters, would be welcome.
