Funding

Projects must aim to contribute to the quality, range and effect of moving image culture in the region by helping more people participate by watching, learning, creating and celebrating moving image.
Applications are decided at a series of funding panels throughout the year. Funding panels will be held on the following dates:
- 22 September 2010 (deadline for applications: 4 August 2010)

Capital Support Programme
EXHIBITION AND FESTIVALS – open for applications
Open to projects that expand the choice and critical understanding of cinema and moving image in the region, including film festivals, special cinema programmes, moving image courses or seminars, film clubs etc.

EDUCATION – open for applications
Open to projects that develop Media Literacy within the region. For example, creative workshops that teach practical film making skills, workshops that help people understand, question and enjoy moving image. Typical amounts funded will be between £1,000 and £3,000

MENTORING AND INTERNSHIPS – open for applications
Maximum available to individual/company £300
Open to individuals or companies that have identified the need for a mentor in specific area related to their development. This need will be identified through discussions with the appropriate member of the creative team.

MEDIABOX – funding period closed
NFM is the regional partner for Mediabox, a new fund from the Department for Education, for projects involving 13-19 year olds in creative media projects. Our Mediabox Co-ordinator, Douglas Hunter, is available to advise and assist applicants in the North East. We strongly recommend that you discuss your application with Douglas before submitting it. A monthly advisory surgery is available for those interested in applying for funding in the 20 Mediabox round. Primarily aimed at those seeking larger investments of £20,000-£40,000, there will be scope to address project development issues as well as questions directly about funding.

Capital Support Programme for Participatory Media OrganisationsNFM is offering Participatory Media Organisations the opportunity to apply to the Capital Support Programme which is funded by the Department for Education. The 12 month programme aims to increase an organisations fundraising capacity by signposting and supporting funding bids to ‘new’ sources of income whilst embedding the skills for sustainable delivery beyond the 12 month programme.
Ideally organisations should be small to medium in scale with a minimum of 2 years track record and a vision of work they would like to deliver in 2010/2011.
Required
- EOI no longer than 2 sides of A4 outlining your track record, why your organisation would benefit and your programme plans for 2010/11
- Breakdown of your Income for the last 2 years identifying individual grants and income streams.
