Northern Film & Media is the Regional Screen Agency for the North East of England.
One of nine Regional Screen Agencies across England, we exist to develop the moving image sector of the region, covering Tyne & Wear, Northumberland, County Durham and the Tees Valley.
Formed in October of 2002, we are passionate about the industry that we seek to champion and drive.
Northern Film & Media develops the moving image sector by investing in people and their ideas.
We focus our energies and expertise upon engaging with and developing individuals and companies working in film, television, animation, commercials, multi-media, and innovative technologies.
Northern Film and Media offers support in a number of ways; through the direct funding of projects, through a commitment to professional and non-professional training, through arranging a wide range of schemes and services, workshops and seminars, screenings and networking events.
We promote the creative and technical talent of the people who form the moving image community of the North East, and promote the region as a world class and cost effective place to shoot both film and television.
Indeed, over the years, many great films and much loved TV series have been filmed in the region: Atonement, Harry Potter, Billy Elliot, Elizabeth and Goal; Wire in the Blood, 55 Degrees North.
