Quick commuting distances
With London, Manchester and Glasgow all accessible by train in well under 3 hours, the North East might be closer than you think. Newcastle International Airport is just 15 minutes from the centre of town with regular, cheap flights to the capital and beyond. You won’t have to travel far by car to feel the diverse breadth of the North East and there will be no M25 or congestion charges to contend with.
More light, less rain
The North East has higher than average daylight hours and thanks to the rain shadow cast by the Pennines, is one of the driest regions in the UK with less than 700mm falling per year. We can’t promise sunshine every day but choose the North East and you’ll minimise the risk of having to put the covers on your commercial production.
North East Familiarisation Fund
This fund is designed to encourage film and TV production companies from outside the North East to consider the region.
We will bring up to four members of your key personnel to the North East for up to two nights to show you that the North East can fulfill your requirements.
Northern Film & Media will cover the cost of UK travel to the North East. We may be able to accompany your key personnel on a recce of the North East or we will provide a professional local location manager for up to 2 days. We will provide accommodation and transport.
