Connect/Exchange is a national exchange initiative for six artists with a moving image, digital or screen-based practice. It will provide six artists with three weeks’ time and space to undertake initial research and development for a new work or project, connect and exchange ideas with artists and curators in other regions, expand professional networks and present practice to the public via an artist's talk or screening.

Sheffield Doc/Fest and Creative Skillset have launched Fast Track to Features 2: a seven-month UK-wide feature documentary training programme aimed at documentary talent wanting to make the move towards making their first documentary feature. The first stage of Fast Track to Features 2 will be an Introductory Workshop which will run twice: once in London and once in Newcastle, in partnership with Northern Film & Media. This will run on Wednesday 22nd January 2014 at Toffee Factory in Newcastle.

Bloodlust, the debut feature from Newcastle-based writer/director Richard Johnstone, has been acquired by Canadian Sales Company, Cinemavault. They will be handling International Sales for the horror after securing a deal at this year's Cannes Film Festival.

Northern Film & Media, Channel 4 and BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art commissioned 10 artists and filmmakers for Channel 4’s renowned Random Acts strand. To celebrate their completion and in the lead up to broadcast, due Autumn 2013, the ten films will be premiered at BALTIC from 28 October – 17 November 2013 with an additional programme of supporting talks and presentations.
