Berwick visual arts residency launched
Up to £12k of funding is available after the Berwick Film & Media Arts Festival teamed up with Berwick Visual Arts to launch the first Berwick visual arts residency.
The residency offers the opportunity for a moving image artist to spend up to 6 months in Berwick-upon-Tweed in the run-up to the Festival in September 2013. Next year, the event will explore the region’s historical, industrial and cultural links with Northern Europe through film and moving image art. Straddling the English-Scottish Border, the Festival will explore North by Northeast – the relationships between the northern European countries and the North Sea that connects them.
“We were delighted to be asked to partner on Berwick Visual Arts’ first artist residency, and to be able to offer that artist a platform as part of the 2013 Festival, said Melanie Iredale, the Festival’s director.
“Berwick offers so many unique heritage locations from which an artist can draw inspiration, and can site their work, and we look forward to working with the successful applicant next year.”
The deadline for applications is Monday 22 October. Click here for more information.
